Meet the Baadshah of errors: Kamran Akmal

It is not often that you get to witness a player whose career is etched with fumbles, failures and frail attempts at hiding them. Meet the Pasha of missed catches, the Godfather of failed attempts—-the one and only Kamran Akmal.

His consistency with inconsistency is something to die for, and his presence behind the stumps is a calming factor for the opposition team, not to mention the batsmen in the middle. On what proved to be a terrible Tuesday for Pakistan, Kamran spilled not one but two golden opportunities that helped New Zealand’s birthday boy Ross to ‘Taylor’ his team’s jersey, which fitted the bill perfectly.

As Kamran dropped a straight-forward catch from Ross off Shoaib the actor, a new message on Facebook aptly read “Kamran to Taylor: Ross should I DROP you somewhere? Ross: Yes, please!”

While Shoaib the Akthar was on display, his ACTOR skills came in full flow as his keeper kept the wickets of the opposition intact.

There has been enough analysis on why Kamran continues to plummet to new levels of stupidity and plunge his keeping skills (or the lack of it!) to never-before-seen arenas. But, one has to understand that Kamran is indeed incompetence personified.

More than the catches he drops or the stumpings he misses; it is those moments that steal the mickey out of his team. Much has changed in the last few years in Pakistan cricket–/Shoaib Malik no more takes the field, Salman Butt, Mohd Amir and Asif may not in all likelihood don the Pakistan greens in their careers but Kamran—-James Kamran—remains the only constant amidst the sea of changes. Well, if Pakistan, even thinks of making some changes to fine-tune their chances of winning the World Cup, Kamran, may have to make way for someone…..but alas! Knowing the Pakistan side, changes are something which could go unchanged.
